The Automation Lead is responsible for delivering and supporting automation solutions for the organisation. The role requires excellent organisation skills knowledge of Powershell, Excel (e.g. VBA, Macros) and automation/RPA (Automation Anywhere) tools.
Experience leading teams in developing and implementing DevOps automated solutions is critical. Proficiency in related processes such as build management and DevSecOps methodology is a plus.
The Automation Lead is both a leadership and hands-on development role and must have excellent stakeholder relationship management skills to successfully lead and manage a team/vendors for delivering of automated solutions to our customers/internal organisation.
Experience leading DevOps automation efforts as Technical Lead.
Development and implementation of build release pipelines with personal accountability for managing deployment schedules, issues, risks, and impediments.
Agile development experience with team member accountability for commitment and delivery each sprint.
Lead and provide estimates, formalise release plans, and implementation schedules/dependencies.
Track infrastructure delivery and dependencies to implementation.
Communicate implementation issues, delays, and mitigation plans.
Innovate to improve future processes and deployments.
Interface and communicate with the project team, management and stakeholders.
Lead teams consisting of cross-functional, global groups, directly supervise employees, and assign responsibility to members to develop technical automation solutions.
Coach, mentor and support less experienced team members.
Manage external contracts and suppliers, where required.
Work within defined build, deployment, and governance processes.
Ensure that all implementations of automated tools meet the requirements prescribed by IT Services through the effective implementation or use of approved processes, methodologies and deliverables.
Delivering defined elements of business improvement projects (e.g. tool rollout) across business units and/or locations.
Creation and maintenance of user guides, work instructions for the developed tools.
Holding training for end-users on the completed automation and acting as a single point of contact for their initial queries
A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; or equivalent work experience.
Automation/RPA certifications is an advantage.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an IT Shared Services environment as a supervisor/team lead.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience creating automated solutions for deployments and builds.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working to implement a DevOps culture using automated tools.
Experience working Agile/Scrum environment is required.
Experience in managing Dev Ops organisations is an advantage.
Experience working with a Robotic Process Automation tools, preferably Automation Anywhere is an advantage.
Strong MS Excel (including VBA level) work experience is a must
Proven track record of independent development of tools/automation is a must
MS Access and/or MS Sharepoint skills is a must
Work experience with process documentation is an advantage
Project management experience (independently carrying out elements of the project planning and/or delivery phase) is an advantage
