Cloud Automation Engineer - AWS, Puppet, Docker, Postgres, Vagrant, scripting, automation - Central London - building, designing and improving the automation of cloud infrastructure in a company moving from start-up to established and running at pace.
This is an interesting mix of continuous improvement, support and administration of a fast moving AWS infrastructure. The business has embraced a 'DevOps' way of working putting small pods together to work on projects and this role will play a key part in that from an infrastructure or 'Ops' slant. You don't need to be a developer but you do need to understand the development lifecycle and have a real handle on what continuous deployment means. Although there are tools in use nobody is precious about their way of working so bringing in new ideas, new tools or a new approach is actively welcomed and you have a chance to shape the direction of the company's cloud infrastructure.
Ideal applicants will understand the software lifecycle, have an appreciation of the DevOps way of working (both theoretical and how that works in the real world!) as well as expereince covering a range of the following -
- Amazon Web Services (they are all in with AWS cloud)
- Scripting - Python, Go
- DevOps tools for collaboration and automation - Slack, Celery, Terraform, Puppet, Salt, Vagrant
- An understanding of Docker and Containers
- Rabbit MQ messaging or equivalent
- Postgres / MySQL databases
