Responsibilities

Key Objective
The position is responsible for the overall management, underwriting functions of the department including setting and achieving strategic goals and targets, setting underwriting appetites, preferred segments, build products and distribution channels relations and enhancing sales capabilities.

Major duties and responsibilities

To achieve underwriting targets and manage the overall underwriting, administration and operation of the marine cargo portfolio. Work with and direct /influence the distribution channels in achieving the targeted /strategic goals and plans for the year (30% time)
Build products and distribution build distribution channels (agents, broker, direct, group) relations, introduce new and enhanced products and sales capabilities which meet distribution channels and clients needs (30% time)
Ensuring unit meeting and delivering service standard level agreed with distribution channels (quotation, enquiry).Adherence to reporting, internal and external, timely and accurate submission of reports and statistics (15% time)
Lead and mentor direct reports in achieving agreed goals and targets set for the year, development of best talents and common underwriting philosophy /cultures (15% time)
Full compliance with regulatory, PIAM, local and global guidelines (10% time)

Requirement

More than 10 years relevant experience in the class of business
Tertiary qualification in any discipline, preferably diploma/ Associate in Insurance qualifications ( ACII /AMII)
