Industrial Safety Product Application Specialist General Safety Products& High Risk, Safety & Productivity Solutions (SPS)

Honeywell International is a diversified technology and manufacturing leader of aerospace products and services, control technologies for buildings, homes and industry, automotive products, power generation systems, specialty chemicals, fibers, plastics, and advanced materials.

The position is Industrial Safety Product Application Specialist for our Honeywell General Safety & High Risk business, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will report to the APAC Product Marketing Leader

The Industrial Safety Specialist is responsible for:
Main Tasks
  • Entrench HON deeper in local government bodies, regulation entities 
  • Get HON specified in public documentation, training guidelines
  • Represent HON / become committee for the local regulatory body – MIHA, NIOSH, DOSH, Ministry of Health
  • Serves as subject matter expert on occupational safety and health
  • Interacts with the regional and global technical community 
  • Trains internal and external customers on new country regulations
  • Work with the local regulatory body; interpret regulatory codes, safety standards, training, and procedure requirements.
  • Advises safety, engineering and operations teams on safety regulations and regulatory compliance concerns 
  • Perform safety risk assessments, regulatory compliance reviews and ergonomic reviews on customers
  • Assist customers in selecting appropriate products in controlled situations (including walk-through survey, job hazard analysis, hazard identification)
  • Nominates the conventions and committee gatherings that HON should be a part of
  • Provides product, service or equipment technical and engineering information 
  • Examine facts surrounding customer problems, recommends options and arrives at a solution
  • Conducts product and application training programs (on site and classroom lectures and hands-on training) 
  • Studies and acquire knowledge of key customers and market segments  
  • Prepares technical plans and reports that cover main business expectations 
  • To work with HON legal team on any safety claim by customer or public
  • Produce or modify global demo kit to suit local needs

Measurable Tasks
  • Number of activity and program collaborated with the government regulatory body and/or industry player; product spec-in, product guideline set up, training module adoption and technical advice
  • Number of product training conducted to the end customer
  • Number of plant walk survey conducted and product proposal to the end user

Key attributes of successful candidates will include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in of Safety Engineering.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
  • Knowledge of CE directives and OSHA/International regulations.
  • B.S. degree in Public Health, Environmental Studies, Occupational Health & Safety or Engineering
  • Certified Safety Professional desired
  • OSHA 10 certification

  • Strong business acumen, leadership, and strategic program execution skills, process driven with strong analytical mindset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as it relates to disseminating and gathering information to staff and management and marketing to prospective clients or business partners.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving ability; rigorous and resourceful with a pragmatic approach - applying 80-20 rule and coming up with directionally sound logic to navigate through limited data situations.
  • Ability to assume ownership and responsibility for complete operations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. 
  • Flexibility in terms of dealing with changing priorities and dealing with multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills to deal with customers, business partners, staff and management from a variety of skill levels as well as different authority levels within the organization and customer’s organizations.
  • Ability to assimilate complex ideas and detailed information into elegant, written, spoken and visual communications.
