Risk Management Department - Assistant Manager (Contracting)

Description:
RMD-Legal is part of the KPMG Malaysia Risk Management Department (RMD), with its focus to:
• Work with the various business units within KPMG Malaysia on services contract and legal matters to ensure consistency in approach with internal risk management policies and commitment to compliance to laws and regulations
• Facilitate the ongoing development of risk management awareness among the professionals in contracting, legal and compliance in conjunction with KPMG Malaysia Risk Management’s goals and objectives

Responsibilities:
As a member to the Contracting Team of the Risk Management Department, you report to Team Lead or RMD Head of Department where applicable. Your roles and responsibilities include:
• Review the professional services teams contracts with clients which involves:
— Comment and provide input to the terms of services contract based on KPMG risk management policies and applicable legal perspective (eg. contract law and Companies Act, other applicable laws and regulations)
— Be a resource for others on applicable law, regulations, policies and procedures
— Engage with professional services team, external client or external legal counsel where required
• Initiate, plan and implement related Risk Management policies and procedures in conjunction with Risk Management Department’s overall goals and objective:
— Initiate timely implementation and update of related policies and procedures impacting contracting procedure and compliance with laws and regulations to meet the fast changing business needs: the expected outcome includes standard legal terms, document templates, guidance and procedures
— Provide on-going observation and feedback to Risk Management team on the effectiveness and compliance of the related policies and procedures; develop relevant action plans on improvement points
— Ensure timely status update and reporting to RMD Head of Department and the Risk Management Partner
• Assist in internal risk management awareness development plans in conjunction with KPMG Malaysia Risk Management’s goals and objectives
— Provide briefing and guidance (including face-to-face briefing/training) on related risk management areas from time to time
— Assist in action plans (including internal communication and guidance materials) to fulfil the training/guidance needs of the professional services teams in contract, legal, KPMG policies and procedure from time to time
— Assist in the development and management of internal knowledge management databases for contracting and legal, including in intranet and software applications
• Assist in the regular status update and timely reporting to RMD Head of Department, the Risk Management Partner and compliance with other relevant reporting obligations

Requirements:
— A Bachelor’ s degree in Law or relevant discipline from a recognized university
— Minimum of 6 to 10 years’ relevant working experience in the areas of law, legal and compliance, contracting, corporate conveyancing, litigation, data privacy
— Strong inter-personal skills, has high self-initiative, resourceful, attentive to detail, commitment to working as a team to achieve overall goals and objective
— Able to handle communication that demonstrates high professionalism with all levels
— Knowledge and experience in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Powerpoint
