Job Description

  • Assist with all aspects of bankruptcy, restructuring and receivership engagements
  • Oversee insolvency engagements
  • Monitor business operations and cash-flow during restructurings pursuant to the Insolvency Act or theCompanies Creditors Arrangement Act proceedings
  • Conduct company and industry research and business analysis including financial viability assessmentsand security evaluations
  • Administer formal insolvency appointments including bankruptcies, proposals and receiverships
  • Develop complex financial models and reporting
  • Participate in business and asset sales processes
  • Prepare memoranda, letters, reports and other correspondence as required
  • Interact with senior client management, lenders and legal-counsel to obtain information, report findingsand provide instructionsInteract with creditors and other stakeholders
  • Ensures engagements offer tangible, timely, value added deliverables that are realistic and obtainable
  • Ensure clients receive accurate and timely information
  • Process required documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Monitor engagement timelines against pre-determined targets and addresses situation where necessary
  • Utilize team appropriately to ensure proper documentation is prepared for the client and proceduresrelating to the file are followed accordingly
  • Liaise with other insolvency firms and external contacts to keep abreast of market knowledge
  • Read professional journals and references and shares and applies learning to workplace
  • Maintain effective communication, information flow and rapport between team members within andexternal to service group
  • Monitor work on an on-going basis, ensuring staff has adequate tools and resources to fulfill theiraccountabilities
  • Ensure a high standard of performance and a strong customer service orientation by providing regularfeedback to direct reports and developing procedures and standards
  • Implement disciplinary action including termination as required
  • Conduct formal, written annual performance reviews and semi-formal quarterly reviews
  • Guide development of and monitor team members personal learning plan
  • Mentors and coaches team members towards professional and personal development
  • Delegate and assign authority to others in a balanced manner, ensuring workflow activities arecoordinated in an effective and efficient manner
  • Encourage full participation of each individual in the team
  • Five years of experience working in professional services, particularly corporate insolvency and complex restructuring engagements
  • Accounting designation (CPA/ACCA/ICAEW or equivalent), is an asset
  • Experience developing and working with integrated cash flow and financial statement models
  • High level of technical competence in conducting financial analysis
  • Some travel may be required
