What You Do
  • To drive the integration of new apps providers onto Astro's STB devices, identity (SSO) and billing platforms.
  • Ability to coordinate between various internal departments (architecture, systems, QA, business, product) to produce an technical integration / partnership approach that achieves the objectives of the organization.
  • To support the development of roadmaps and strategies for Astro's STB app framework in collaboration with stakeholders from business, marketing, content divisions, vendors and app providers.
  • To support app providers in porting their apps to Astro's STB framework, from the distribution of reference devices to certification and lifecycle management.
  • To monitor the performance of the app product regularly and identify the gaps and issues that can be technically addressed to increase customers engagement.
  • To work with the technology delivery team and external vendors to ensure features and capabilities meet stakeholder, app providers and customer expectations.
  • Research and monitor trends of OTT app services to ensure Astro is ahead of curve in the app aggregation space.
  • Advocate and communicate the best product designs, experience and technologies to adopt for stakeholders within the organization.
  • Initiate and prioritize projects with the delivery teams, assist in determining the best technical implementation methods, track product development, and develop product launch plans.
  • Be the primary interface between app providers and internal stakeholders for all matters related to the integration of new apps, from conceptualization to launch and enhancements.
  • Supervise development of all user, support and technical documentation (i.e. product guidelines, manuals, FAQs, comms, etc.).
  • Carry out any task given by superior that are aligned with company objective and business plan.

This Role Will Focus Primarily In Three Areas
  • Content Provider engagement. As part of the app onboarding process, this role will be required to engage our international content providers on a regular basis. As such they would serve as our primary liaison representing Astro to ensure that all technical aspects of the integration / porting, requirements, policies and user journeys are aligned between both organizations. This engagement will continue post-launch to oversee the lifecycle management (i.e. app updates, platform and operational changes) of these apps.
  • Set Up Box (STB) app framework. There are two approaches that will be used to enable apps onto our STB platform, direct integrations through the chipset for native Linux apps and a web based framework for web (HTML5) apps. In order to facilitate the onboarding or new apps, these resources will need an in-depth understanding of how our STB app tech stacks works.
  • CRM, SSO and Billing integrations. Outside of the STB platform, this role will also need to oversee the back-end integration of these apps with our existing back office systems and teams. Depending on the business requirements and policies from the provider this often includes components for account management, billing, entitlement synchronization, SSO (Astro ID), identity tracking and account verification as well as self-service and subscription management.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's Degree in the field of Information Technology Management, Computer Science, Business Management or Communications.
  • Prior digital product development or management experience, minimum of 8 years
  • Prior experience in STB developments and/or deliveries.
  • Familiarity with OTT video services, their systems architectures and workflows.
  • Familiarity with identity management (SSO) and operator billing platforms.
  • Familiarity with app stores, their policies, processes and guidelines.
  • Experience in:
    • Agile / Scrum software development projects
    • UI / UX design and developments
    • Internal stakeholder management and presentation to drive buy-ins
    • Developing product specifications and strategies from business requirements
    • Developing training materials and communications (FAQs, EULA, T&C)
    • Project management
    • Management of vendor contracts and payment
