Job Description

The Bid Engineer role will contribute to the Software Sales Team goals.

What are my responsibilities

• Prepare budgetary and firm commercial offers for Sales Team
• Coordinate and Manage tender replies and offer submission. Checks for offer completeness and accuracy before submission.
• Gather input from as required to complete tasks from Sales Team, Commercial Manager, Logistics, Legal and Project Management
• Analyzes customer’s technical specification/enquiry to break it down into smaller work elements for accurate cost estimation.
• Willing to quickly learn and understand how excel templates are used by the company to perform estimations. Able to learn excel functions on his/her own to prepare basic cost simulations for management decision making.
• Completes cost calculation of the scope of bid required based on the scope - internal and external scope.
• Determines priorities and schedules proposal submission schedules to Sales.
• Accuracy and on time submission in the proposals prepared.
• Coordinate and clarify technical related questions with Technical team
• Track and record keeping of offer progress/changes for archive and record keeping purposes.
• Be a team player and individual contributor as business demands
What do I need to qualify for this job
• BE degree in Computer/Electronics/Electrical Engineering or relevant field.
• Min 2 years of relevant experience in proposal management/preparation for Software related business
• Comfortable following up with cross functional teams (technical, commercial etc), especially with team located overseas and in different time zones
• Assertiveness to ensure required inputs are received in the time required for preparation and submission of offers.
• Applicant must demonstrate an ability to learn and explain how Software Solutions business models are generally executed.
• Applicant must also demonstrate an ability to learn and understand new technologies and explain it at a basic level, to others.
• Willing to ask and self learn.
• Able to seek out designated experts and clarify ambiguous problems/questions until sufficient clarity reached or risk is controlled.
What else do I need to know
Knowledge and Experience
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft excel to use company’s costing template or prepare own templates if required.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, senior management and executives and project teams.
• Strong analytical and on the job problem solving skills
• Able to read software related technical material and apply knowledge in work environment.
• Applicant must demonstrate an understanding of basic electrical systems and willingness to keep up to date with Malaysia's electrical market landscape.
