EY's climate change team helps organisations to maximize these opportunities through efficiently meeting compliance requirements, managing risks and thinking strategically. Our skills and experience range from helping organisations to comply with greenhouse and energy regulatory programs, through to identifying and assessing emissions abatement opportunities, developing decarbonisation strategies and net zero pathway plans, assessing climate-related risks and opportunities and supporting the development of evidence-based policy.
We understand that the impending impacts of climate change are increasingly difficult to predict and hard to plan for. Our response is to support business and government to develop their capacity for managing the future, whatever it may look like.
Your key responsibilities
You'll spend most of your time in assisting clients to identify, measure, and manage their business and reporting risks as they transit their organizations in respond to changing government environmental regulations and new trends in sustainability management and reporting. You will provide Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) expertise to deliver ESG due diligence and value creation projects for our clients. Accurately analysing client issues and opportunities, deploying the account management framework, EY client programs, and growth platforms, to build constructive dialogue with key stakeholders. Contributing to the growth and development of the climate change practice by taking operational responsibility and accountability for engagement team support and delivery.
Skills and attributes for success
. Communicating EY's scope of services and providing guidance in the delivery of Climate Change & Sustainability Services, with an emphasis on complex and/or specialized issues within Assurance and/or technical sustainability reporting and advisory capacities
. Partnering with clients to identify and diagnose their needs and the ability to cross-sell services and
. Completing high level technical reports and proposals.
. Managing complex technical issues in technical discipline area
. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice in area of technical discipline
. Proven track record in managing large and complex d projects
. Undertaking a key account management role for major key clients
. Excellent business development skills

To qualify for the role you must have
. A bachelor's degree or higher in science, engineering, sustainability or similar certification
. At least 8 years of experience in a large and dynamic organizations and Climate Change & Sustainability consulting experience
. Deep understanding of ESG/Sustainability issues and relevant tools and frameworks
. Extensive experience working and leading in a team-based environment
. Excellent verbal/written communication skills
. Strong project management and personnel management skills
. Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
. Engaged in environmental & social impact assessment or
. Engaged in carbon emission management or
. Engaged in human rights implementation
Ideally, you'll also have
. Exposure to corporate reporting and/or regulatory reporting on ESG issues
. Experience in design and implementation of ESG-related initiatives and/or reporting
. Practical experience and deep understanding of one or more of the core elements of ESG, for instance:
. climate risk assessment
. carbon footprint measurement and reduction
. culture, diversity and inclusion
. measuring social impact/value and linking it to business opportunities
. human rights issues
. circular economy solutions
. assessment of environmental and ecological impacts of business operations
. design and implementation of ESG governance and policies
. Professional presence with the ability to engage management level clients as well as internal leadership stakeholders
. Ability to analyze complex or unusual issues in the context of client engagements and deliver insightful and pragmatic solutions
