Your responsibilities:

  • Design client samples for surveys through analysis of client revenue and contact data
  • Coordinate with business stakeholders to finalise client sample selection (developing tools to track vs KPIs and to improve automation of the process)
  • Ensure sample objectives are met in terms of breadth of network coverage, number of respondents, etc
  • Track progress of surveys when in-field, developing tools to communicate status to business users
  • Lead the data analysis and macro building, creating solutions to improve the efficiency of how we work
  • Monitor achievement of research goals by compiling stats and reports for business managers to ensure that surveys meet the response targets and demographics that we have set
  • Develop analysis models and materials to share research results with countries and business heads
  • For 3rd party surveys, manage the taxonomy mapping tables that link Standard Chartered’s core client list to client naming conventions in use within external partners. Work with these vendors to ensure that their surveys deliver sufficient focus on our key clients

Job Purpose:

  • We are currently looking for an experienced analyst to join the Research & Client Insights team as data modeller. You will be an integral part of the Research & Client Insights team which is a global function. The team runs global research programs covering the B2B (CIB, CB) and PvB client segments, providing strategic inputs to the business from both clients and staff. You will be excited by data and enjoy analysis, modelling and data manipulation. You will be practiced in creating VBA macros to automate your analysis, have expertise in SPSS or Q and have strong core MS Office skills (Access, Excel, Powerpoint). You may currently be working within a research agency and be looking for a chance to move to a research team within a client organisation.
  • Your role in the Research & Insight team will be as the lead data modeler working with the Research Managers and Research Analysts to analyse business data so as to successfully build survey samples, validate respondent details, launch surveys, track response, generate status metrics and report status throughout live running, and build final analysis, insights and reporting. In addition this role will maintain our core database which matches client taxonomies between the bank and the key external vendors with whom we work. In this role you will take the lead in more complex data manipulation and data analysis including the use of Excel VBA macros. Your experience with data analysis, problem solving and survey activities will enable you to be effective in this role.
Some examples of the kind of work you could be involved in
  • Annual Client Feedback studies for CIB and CB segments globally where we capture feedback from client decision makers, network managers, treasurers etc on the strength of our strategic and transactional relationships
  • Ad-hoc research studies into the usage of specific products and services among clients
  • Syndicated (third party) studies run by external agencies which help us to understand our market positioning relative to competition
  • Integration of research findings from multiple sources along with business data to create deeper insights at a client level
  • Career development opportunities in this role are varied. There is scope to develop within the team – either focusing on analysis and project management to progress into the Project Manager role or focusing on Research solution design and business advice to progress into a Survey Manager role. Previous incumbents in this role have moved into other business analysis roles, for example within the FM COO team or the CIB COO team.

Job Requirements:
  • Educational Discipline in Statistics or quantitative discipline is preferred and with experience working in data modelling
  • Excellent Excel skills, adept at macro building and model building
  • Strong knowledge of Statistical software packages such as SPSS or Q (preferred), adept at statistical analysis and modelling. SAS Programming and HTML experience an added advantage
  • Strong project management skills, good prioritization, able to identify issues and risks and to seek help when needed for continued progress
  • Experience in Market Research agency will be a strong advantage (3-4 years as a minimum)
  • A natural team player, with a clear client orientation and a passion for service excellence
  • Good communication skills: ability to build clear, effective communications that drive action
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization – with team, senior executives, and middle management
  • Self-starter, comfortable working independently. Should be detailed oriented with strong work ethics
  • Comfortable to work in a relatively unstructured, project-based and multi-cultural environment
