Job Description

Job Description
Terminal Operators (CTOs). We rely heavily on CTOs to ensure we can maximize our ability to sell and transport cargo. The success of selling and maximizing cargo space relies heavily on planning and strong communication/co-ordination between CTO’s and our Load Planning team. The Load Planning team is at the frontline of operations and the first to understand when our cargo transportation plans are not able to proceed as intended. They re-act quickly to abrupt changes and find creative re-routing solutions to ensure every single delivery is transported as intended.
We are looking for a business-savvy, critical-thinking and creative Duty Executive who can lead a team of 10-30 Load Planners. As a Duty Executive, you will be the leader that is helping to steer the direction of multiple teams. Beyond just day-to-day direction, it is critical that you are able to motivate and bring out the best in your team members. You will be based out of our GTR warehouse in LCCT. As we are a 24/7 operation, this role will be on a full-time basis and you will be reporting daily to the Manager of Load Planning.
You will fit perfectly in this role if you are comfortable working independently and are able to exercise your skills in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment. Throughout your role, communication in English will be critical and you can expect to use Microsoft Excel on a regular basis.
As a start up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:

  • Organize your team and ensure work across teams are seamless with no missing gaps / duplication of roles

  • Pre-empt unpredictable situations and pro-actively identify how to avoid challenging situations

  • Lead the coordination with the stakeholders to ensure plans are executed in a timely manner

  • Have a business mindset and apply judgement when needing to prioritize cargo loading / unloading

  • ‘Be on the ball’ and be on top of station performance i.e.: observe tonnage, no. of parcels etc. data

  • Ensure data accuracy of cargo that is transported with us

  • Be an inspirational leader; understand what motivates your team, lead by example and ‘walk the talk’

  • Invest in developing the capabilities of your team, plan for training and have a coaching mindset

  • Regularly seek feedback from the team to understand what can be done better, consider technological solutions

At the onset, you may be culture-shocked working in AirAsia and with the Teleport team. To help you adapt better, we would like to share our beliefs on leadership. Put simply, you are a leader, we all are leaders and good leaders:

  • Roll up their sleeves as needed, and never delegate work that one would not be willing to do themselves

  • Do what is needed to get things done, as they believe speed is more important than anything else to effect change

  • Over communicate, particularly as they are all quite autonomous

  • Take care of our staff, and treat them as they would want to be treated

  • Are rigid on goals, but flexible on the details

These are minimum skills requirements and a ‘must-have’ for the role:

  • Can speak and write English to an advanced degree

  • Displays confidence in public settings, and in front of an audience

  • Able to work with minimal supervision and is able to make sensible judgement calls

  • Is a fast thinker – able to solve problems on-the-go and adapt to new situations

  • Has an entrepreneurial spirit and a business mindset

  • A natural leader with prior experience managing large teams, >10 people

  • Displays high attention to detail

  • Is calm, especially under pressure

  • Has an analytical background

  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and has used it in prior work

These are skills that are ‘nice-to-have’ and will make you stand-out in the job application:

  • Hungry for the job

  • Natural communicators

  • Multilingual, knowing Mandarin is a plus

  • Have failed at something, but had the resilience and grit to improve yourself

  • Understand prioritization and trade-offs between revenue and resolving customer expectations

  • Detail oriented in identifying, tracking and resolving issues at multiple levels

  • Equally comfortable behind a computer or being in the ground where the action is

  • Trustworthy, and reliable, and has references to back that up

  • Enjoys travelling and is open to living and experiencing other cultures

  • At least an undergraduate degree, any discipline

  • 3-6 years in project management / strategic data analysis/ process improvement role

We are all different - one talent to another - that is how we rely on our differences. At AirAsia, you will be treated fairly and given all chances to be the best. We committed to creating a diverse work environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
