Job Summary: The Electrical Design Engineer develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications. Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed.
Detailed Description:Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Work independently to design and develop technical solutions without assistance in a limited number of technical fields supporting common segments/technologies. May also solve complex problems in cooperation with a team of other engineers.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to design a control system that will enable the system to perform its intended function safely and reliably.
- Perform engineering calculations with respect to power consumption, current capacity, shielding, signal integrity, risk assessment, etc., as related to automation machinery and product designs.
- Develops new product prototypes to validate automation and product designs meets performance requirements, quality, and cost goals
- Attend and interact in technical customer meetings.
- Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. e.g. creation of Schematics, Cable Routing Diagrams, Panel Layouts, Bills of Material, diagrams, drawings, etc.
- Testing, simulation and measuring (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems
- Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
- Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
- Analyze and interpret data and information
- Provide support during the manufacturing process
- Recommend modifications for systems
- Create reports and documentation

Physical Demands:Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
Occasional travel may be required.
