About the Venture Solv Malaysia (the Venture) is a newly formed SCV-backed entity creating a digital Business to Business (B2B) e-commerce marketplace that will address growth challenges for the micro, small and medium d businesses (MSMEs) in Malaysia while linking them to local and global supply chains.
The platform will help MSMEs grow their business by connecting verified buyers and sellers, facilitating them for quick and easy access to finance as well as taking advantage of affordable and reliable business services to meet the pain points of the MSMEs in Malaysia.

The Role Responsibilities
Develop and implement the risk governance framework for Solv Malaysia, including to :-
  • Formulate/adapt Solv Malaysia RMF from the SCV RMF
  • Participate in Solv Risk committees and forums
  • Support BAU processes for risk identification and reporting
  • Support operational risk management of Solv
  • Participate in third line audits
  • Formulate the risk management and operational capability of Solv
  • Review of business and risk management strategy
  • Review of risk governance, policies and standards
  • Review of risk profile
  • Focus on driving Conduct, Financial Crime and Compliance (CFCC) considerations across all activities within the venture.
  • Responsible, with the CFCC team, for leading and driving the strategic adoption of data management framework fit-for the venture across key CFCC considerations including use of AI/ML, data quality, data privacy and records management

Processes
  • Continuously enhance the Risk framework and methodology, keeping abreast of external practises through research and participation in industry forums.
  • Support the end-to-end Risk process, ensuring a strong understanding and discipline of implementation of Risk across teams
  • Participate & ensure that for all Second-Line accountabilities within the Risk Type Framework, are being consistently delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training to raise the overall skillsets of the function (both technical and soft skills) this to include development and execution of training interventions, e.g. report writing and soft skills
  • Fully adhere to all agreed governance (e.g. committees) and other routines (regular meetings, attendance at other forums) for Solv. Act as an advocate for Solv and more broadly, SC Ventures, its objectives and best practice.
  • Adhere to such other process and governance requirements as requested by line management, from time to time.

Overall Business and Strategy:
  • Drive the vision, strategy, direction and leadership in support of the Venture's strategic direction and growth aspirations in regards to Risk and Compliance.
  • Be a leader for the Risk and Compliance arm ensuring the team under them remains focused and delivers way above and beyond the deliverables
  • Ensure the Risk and Compliance arm supports revenue earning as per projections.

Risk Management
  • Validate that all activity adheres to the Risk Management Framework, with a specific focus on ensuring an effective framework for the management of Risks within the team as they pertain to the role.

Governance
  • Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Deliver effective governance capability to challenge colleagues effectively and willingness to work in an open and cooperative manner with all.
  • Responsible for collaboration and deployment of the appropriate governance model to properly manage CFCC risk covering key aspects including (but not limited to): shareholder representation, board membership, delegation of authority, senior manager responsibilities etc.
  • Responsible to collaborate and deploy the appropriate framework to manage third party risks posed by unconventional third parties relationships including (but not limited to) business partnerships, joint ventures and alliances
  • Responsible for collaboration and deployment of appropriate governance model for Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning
  • Identify and assess sources of CFCC risks and ensure that systems and controls are appropriate to mitigate and manage risks within acceptable risk tolerance levels. Report on material CFCC risks.
  • Challenge and maintain the right balance between risk prudence and pace of innovation set by the new competitor landscape.
  • Collaborate on preparation and cascade audit plans and findings, CFCC assurance activities and investigations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide timely escalation and relevant oversight information to the board and SCV Governance on key CFCC risks and control issues

  • Effectively engage Solv Malaysia and SCV stakeholders across functions

  • Comfortable in working with multiple stakeholders teams and functions
  • Build strong and effective relationships with the various technology and business counterparts
  • Some experience in co-ordination of multiple dependencies and stakeholders in complex, large scale deployment environments

  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from a risk and compliance perspective for SOLV Malaysia to the team and work in collaboration with the rest of the Senior Management Team.
  • Promote and embed a culture of openness, trust and risk awareness, where ethical, legal, regulatory and policy compliant conduct is the norm.
  • Stimulate an environment where forward planning, prioritisation, deadline management, target achievement, creating good customer relations and loyalty and streamlined workflows and collaborative, inclusive yet effective and efficient work practices are the norm.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for the relationship managers and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development in order that the rest of the team are competent, suitably skilled and qualified for their roles, ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Provide feedback at business, function, country and individual level as appropriate, on risk and compliance performance.
  • Ensure regular and documented management meetings with the senior management team on the risk metrics of SOLV Malaysia.

Desired Experience, Knowledge & Skills
  • 15+ years of experience
  • Experience working in corporates and ideally start-up environment
  • Strong risk management, analytics, problem-solving, interpersonal and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to learn quick and thrive in ambiguous environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Experience of running large complex projects in a start-up environment is a plus
  • Being able to manage budgets in greenfield digital space
  • Personal integrity and proactive hand-on working attitude
