The Role Responsibilities
Drive the WMPS business across all client segments and working with other value streams to plan, manage, lead and direct the business focus on the distribution of insurance products to achieve business, revenue and profit targets whilst implementing global standard and ensure the compliance and governance of insurance products and the distribution framework.
Strategy and Planning
  • Ensure WMPS MY has the best execution platform to enable scalability of the business
  • Have thorough understanding of business dynamics of all channels to leverage on multiple product / service needs of bank customers

  • Financial and Performance Management
  • Ensure WMPS MY meets its Financial Performance. This will include constant monitoring of financial performance, frequent contacts through visits, conference calls, email exchanges to ensure financial metrics stay on track.
  • Strategies, Plan and Execute the long term strategic WMPS plans and tactical plans to take advantage of the business opportunities within the footprint of SCB.
  • Manage the cost for operating the WMPS MY business

  • Product Development and Operational Workflow
  • Responsible for the following product class: FX, Fixed Income (Credit and Bonds), Equities, Structured Products, Premium Currency Investment, Wealth Lending
  • Ensure WMPS enables the full range of Product Suite in MY where regulation permits
  • Ensure WMPS products have a strong execution platform to enable retailising of WMPS products via the segments that it serves

  • Sales and Service Delivery
  • Develop channels strategy for insurance sales and service delivery across retail bank
  • Act as the central liaison party for all channels with all insurance partners on insurance matters
  • Determine, agree and monitor achievement of sales %26amp; service KPIs with insurance partners and customer experience
  • Define the appropriate skills, education, experience etc. of the insurance sales staff %26amp; development of the training curriculum to optimize sales / service achievement

  • Marketing and Brand Management
  • Work with product managers and segment managers to identify market growth, cross sell opportunities, with customer centric focus, to increase product holdings penetration and improve revenues
  • Initiate, execute and manage marketing programs and retention strategies in line with business objectives (Sales volume, AUM, client base)

  • Business Intelligence and Market Intelligence
  • Active analysis and review of all customer bases to understand customer profile, behavioural %26amp; lifestyle traits to identify opportunities for increasing customer holding policies 
  • Keeping abreast of market competition, industry practices and best practices to constantly improve on overall business performance

  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Constantly engage with Wealth Management Country and Region heads to understand their product needs, support them on product ideas, design and provide best execution for all WMPS products
  • Engage with PvB, PrB, Distribution Heads, on a periodic basis to address any issues they have in relation to WMPS products
  • Have periodic contacts with FM Heads to update them on WMPS activities including manpower, WMPS governance and business issues
  • Periodic contacts with key business stakeholders to update them on WMPS initiatives and challenges

  • Leadership %26amp; People
  • Ensure WMPS has a highly trained and experienced pool of dealers that will serve as the backbone of WMPS centres.
  • Build a strong team of treasury specialists for supporting business growth requirements at the branch
  • Coach direct report, metric reports and key talents to deliver on individual performance
  • Manage team engagement to be agent of change and a role model for talented managers throughout the Bank

  • Compliance %26amp; control
  • Working through the WMPS COO Office, ASEAN to ensure adherence to the Operational Risk Framework in the identification, assessment, mitigation and control and monitoring of risk.  Ensure sufficient traction and follow through management actions to mitigate identified operational risks exposure.  This will include all CSTs, KRIs and other OR initiatives are properly managed.
  • Ensure WMPS MY has the necessary local CAs (Country Addendum) to operate each of the product classes
  • Responsible for facing audit in MY and ensure successful audits
  • Ensure all Staff and activities are in compliance to regulatory requirement, FM/WM MOU and Bank’s internal policies %26amp; procedures.
  • Ensure up-to-date dealing mandate from FM Head MY.
  • Ensure all products have the necessary CAs, Product Approval and DOI.
  • Ensure all Staff adhere to FM Code of Conduct, have the necessary certifications and training.
  • Responsible for any necessary reporting as required by local country insurance authorities and regulators.  Compliance heads and Group insurance must be informed of all external communications to regulators
