Job Description

Responsible for developing biodiversity and natural resource management strategies and roadmap, the right candidate should have at least 10 years of experience in managing environmental programs in relation to natural resources management, biodiversity conservation, coastal and marine diversity and livelihood development. Job Purpose
  • Develop, implement and monitor biodiversity and natural resource management strategies in line with the Company’sbusiness objectives and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG).
  • Develop and implement community-related environmental programs as an integral part of the Company’sbiodiversity conservation roadmap.
  • Plan and manage employee engagement initiatives and communication, aimed at embedding environmental sustainability internally by promoting environmental awareness and education to Companystaff at all levels.

Principal accountabilities
  • Develop biodiversity and natural resource management strategies and roadmap in line with Company’sBusiness Objectives and the UN Sustainable Develop Goals (SDG).
  • Manage the Sponsorship Agreement established with external partner(s) for execution of the Company’sBiodiversity Conservation Flagship Programme and serve as principal liaison personnel between the Companyand the external partner(s).
  • Prepare and manage overall budget for implementation of the Biodiversity Conservation Flagship Programme.
  • Lead the formulation of performance indicators and targets for Company’s Biodiversity Conservation Flagship Programme and other programmes implemented under the conservation strategic framework.
  • Monitor and provide measurable inputs to ensure the delivery of activities of the conservation strategy.
  • Identify and lead discussions/ communication with external stakeholders to ensure effective outreach and that conservation activities are well coordinated.
  • Lead engagement with internal stakeholders, particularly the Biodiversity Conservation Working Group to enable an efficient cross functional service for implementation of the biodiversity roadmap.
  • Lead the collaboration with theGroup Corporate Communications and Corporate Sustainability Divisions to promote the goal and objectives of Company’s biodiversity conservation initiatives to internal and external stakeholders. Plan and coordinateGroup employee volunteer programme(s) for the Biodiversity Conservation Flagship Programme and other environmental social responsibility programme activities.
  • Plan and lead the implementation of environmental b-HSSE activities and communication aimed at inculcating an environmentally responsible culture and embedding environmental sustainability internally.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulations and company policies (i.e. Code of Business Ethics, HSE Policy andSecurity Policy) for all programmes and conservation activities by carrying out periodic reviews and establishing necessary procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the review and analysis of performance data on biodiversity and environmental social responsibility programmes and provide recommendations to improve strategies execution and facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Manage the preparation of periodic performance updates for reporting to theManagement and external stakeholders, on the progress of the biodiversity conservation roadmap and environmental awareness promotion programmes.
  • Lead assessment to identify water conservation opportunities in Company’sbusiness operations.
  • Lead the development of strategies and plans for water conservation, develop indicators, target and monitor the effectives of implementation.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts, and actively seeks to build strategic alliances and partnerships with NGOs, international/ national organizations and other potential partners in order to continuously add value to Company’sbusiness objectives in relation to the biodiversity conservation strategies.

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years in leading and managing environmental conservation programmes or related fields such as natural resources management, biodiversity conservation, coastal and marine biodiversity, and community and alternative livelihood development.
  • Proven experience of working with NGOs and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of marine conservation, community development and policy/ institutional context related to conservation in Malaysia.
  • Experience in Marine Protected Areas management would be a strong asset.

Qualification
  1. Degree in natural resources management, environmental science, marine science, or a related field.
