Job Purpose Summary:
  • Define, plan & implement IT projects consistently, including defining the project scope, goals & deliverables, progress management, risk & issues management, resource tracking, financial tracking, stakeholder management & associated status reporting, within the prescribed time frame & funding parameters in order to support enterprise &/or strategic corporate goals.  
  • Review & evaluate performed project management processes, work products & services against established standards & procedures & recommend improvements to ensure consistency in service delivery.
Functional (job responsibilities)
  • Provide project leadership, management & oversight of IT projects involving business consultation, estimation, planning & management of the technical team to deliver successful solutions.
  • Assemble project team, assign individual responsibilities, identify & manage appropriate resources needed, develop & manage schedule to ensure timely execution of project(s).
  • Manage project budget & achieve cost targets.
  • Oversight of general project tasks, including chairing project meetings to ensure that projects are proceeding according to timelines, meeting targets & expectations, & adhering to established operating parameters.
  • Plan, schedule & track project timelines & milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Develop & execute the project's communication plan.
  • Manage project risks & scope & identify & resolve issues which may impact the project results.
  • Prepare & report timely project status to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises & devise contingency plans.
  • Establish strong stakeholder relationships to manage any internal & external risks to the project.
  • Conduct project post mortems & create a recommendations report in order to identify successful & unsuccessful project elements.
  • Comply with all standard controls & processes, both internally including IT System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), change management & change control processes, & externally as defined by business/operating unit processes.
  • Participate in the development & maintenance of processes, best practices, & templates relating to business systems analysis, communication standards, & general project management practices.
Organizational (organizational responsibilities)
  • Assist Section Head, Project Management to reduce overhead costs & meet budgeted targets.
  • Provide weekly updates on overall status & health of projects assigned to facilitate weekly IT PMO and IT management meetings.
  • Identify & ensure execution of annual training plan to meet staff competency standards.
  • Communicate work progress & all (work related) pertinent information in an accurate and timely manner to Section Head, Project Management.

Job requirements
  • Professional IT qualification/IT degree/related degree or diploma.
  • At least 5 years experience in IT Project Management.
  • Successful prior experience as a project manager, with demonstrated experience in managing & implementing multiple large scale technical projects in the financial services industry.
  • A strong appreciation of key business drivers & an understanding of the IT impact upon the business.
  • Working knowledge of technical/system products being used in the organization.
  • Proficient in the use of project management tools i.e. Microsoft Project including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Experience with formal project/software delivery methodologies.
  • Has thorough understanding of the business that the assigned projects are supporting. Uses this understanding of the business & systems environment to develop appropriate and timely solutions to daily issues.
  • Strong aptitude to manage competing priorities & driven projects to meet tight deadlines.
  • Breadth and depth of analytical/problem solving skills with excellent attendtion to detail.
