About Lenovo Channel Solutions & Services (CSS)

CSS is a newly formed division of around 150 financial experts with extensive experience of providing credit and working capital solutions to the IT distribution channel. Lenovo acquired the team from a leading global financing company in April 2019 to support its strong growth around the world, recognising that growing credit lines also demands effective risk mitigation. The CSS Credit Team is therefore critical to Lenovo's success as it has to find ways to enable the revenue growth while protecting the company's bottom line against losses.
Objective of the Position:
The primary role of the Credit Analyst is to conduct a proper assessment on the creditworthiness of the entities requesting credit from Lenovo and from its operating entities. The candidate will need to gather qualitative (financial) and quantitative (non-financial) information about the clients, and to clarify with the Sales and/or International Customer Operations (ICO) any unclear detail of the proposed transaction, or ask relevant questions to be addressed directly to the customer when further clarification is needed. In addition to this, a Credit Analyst should also understand the following about the customer industry risk, country of operations and sovereign risk, group structure, activity, business environment and outlook, etc.
Upon completion of these, the analyst will need to prepare a credit write up and recommend approval or rejection of the request for a credit limit. His/her recommendation will need to include the Lenovo credit rating of the customer and terms & conditions (risk mitigation structure) under which CSST would be ready to provide credit, or otherwise the reason for rejection needs to be justified.
The candidate will also be responsible for assisting the credit team leader and manager in their daily activities. The analyst will work closely with regional Credit, ICO and Sales teams primarily from Asia Pacific regions (across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea and Greater China including Hong Kong, Macau), but occasionally from all around the world when it comes to global accounts. The candidate will have a chance to participate in projects or work with Senior Regional or Worldwide Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial analysis - ability to understand and analyze company's financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, Forecasts and Budget reports).
  • Communication - explain the decision made and its justification to the Sales team.
  • Follow the news - read financial briefings and take actions in timely manner in case any client of CSST gets in trouble
  • Understand financial offerings - be familiar with our products and programs and their structures, risk mitigation elements (including collateral, securities and credit insurance policies)
  • Financial Markets knowledge - ability and interest to understand the wider economy, sovereign risks, industry trends and how they affect Lenovo's customers credit standing.
  • Forecasting - have an appreciation of future cash flows and consideration of how these impact debt repayments.
  • Understand and implement Lenovo's credit directives and credit initiatives, ensuring appropriate controls are maintained.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Professional qualification in Finance (e.g. ACCA, CPA, etc.) or bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in Credit Risk Management related field. Work experience in Credit / Commercial Lending in a bank / financier is an advantage
  • Language skills: Proficient in English is mandatory. Preferably with additional language skills - Mandarin / Japanese / Korean.
  • Self-motivated, good business acumen and good financial / qualitative analytical skills. Strong time management and ability to cope with tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skill, problem-solving skill, collaboration and communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and online research skills.
