  • Provide ER consultation and market insights for the semiconductor industry in Malaysia, including industry best practices, early warning systems for labor risks and non-compliance, human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations. Monitor, track, assess impact, review and ensure the local HR and leadership team’s understanding, implementation and compliance to local and international labor laws and regulations. Where required, partner with Legal and other HR counterparts around the world to assess impact and risk to the company, and propose, plan and implement remedial or improvement action.
  • Consult and advise course of action on issues of employment law including harassment and discrimination, gender equality, diversity and equal employment opportunity (EEO) with performance management. Respond to employee issues, conduct investigations, participate in the resolution process, escalate as required, and ensure appropriate and adequate communication and documentation is in place. Provide ER guidance to leaders when making sensitive workforce management and employment decisions and executing them.
  • Provide guidance and support in industrial relations (labor union relations), while keeping abreast with local trends, industry practices and government priorities, in accordance to our company’s corporate direction and activities. As applicable, represent the company at labor dispute and arbitration cases and other labor proceedings and manage cases from inception to conclusion in consultation with Legal and Management.
  • Establish and develop network with global ER counterparts, Legal, people leaders and employees.
  • Review and analyze turnover metrics and related data to identify meaningful trends and risk areas, work with HR counterparts and business leaders to address issues and support employee retention and engagement programs. Manage turnover surveys and strategically conduct exit interviews with resigning team members.
  • Assist sites in SR audits on areas related to Labor, Human Rights and to a certain degree, Ethics, from preparation to response and corrective and improvement actions.
  • Additional responsibilities will include people management and development, data analysis and reporting, development and instruction of EEO, Diversity and Inclusion related programs, support Micron and RBA Code of Conduct compliance matters and audits, corporate activities, and other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree in any discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience in Employee Relations, preferably in the high tech, manufacturing sector. Exposure in regional and global Employee Relations is required.
  • Good understanding, appreciation and application of Malaysia labor law and practices across the country, as well as global labor standards and issues. Familiarity with Asia region employment laws is advantageous, as are skills in the management of employment contacts.
  • Attention to detail, strong sense of urgency, high standard of compliance and passionate about doing the right thing for Micron and our employees.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with a good command of written and spoken Bahasa Melayu and English. Proficiency in other local languages is advantageous.
  • Able to travel on short notice to any Micron location in Malaysia, should the need arise.
