Job Description

The BASF Shared Services Center Kuala Lumpur was established in 2005. Located in Kuala Lumpur, it has approximately 700 employees and provides functional services in the areas of Finance, Controlling, Information Services, Human Resources, Environment, Health & Safety, Procurement, and Import-Export Order Management to BASF companies and affiliates in 17 markets across Asia Pacific. BASF also has three other Shared Service Centers that cover Europe and the Americas, located in Berlin and Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Montevideo, Uruguay.

Global Digital Services (GDS) is supporting BASF business in Digitalization transformation. Our MISSION is to drive forward the digital transformation of BASF, providing innovative, global and high-quality digital products and services through a strong agile culture.
Part of the GDS strategy, BASF Shared Services Center Kuala Lumpur (BSSCKL) is one of the established Digital Hub for APAC region.
This position is responsible for the commercial handling and technical delivery of the Request fulfillment for the Connectivity Platform APAC.
Requests can originate from global, regional or local business groups and are mostly focused on delivery to BASF internal business partners located across Asia Pacific.
This role works in close alignment with
    1. Regional Business Relationship Management teams to validate requirements and manage deliverable expectations, coordinate on-site readiness and deliver on-site activities
    2. Connectivity product family teams to solution and deliver the project / change
    3. Other product families e.g. Compute, Security etc, to collaborate for a successful request and project handling and implementation

BASF’s service providers responsible for the delivery of core infrastructure services within the connectivity platform
Main Tasks
1. Digitization / innovation
Act as a Global / Regional representative of BASF Digital community, supporting BASF Digital roadmap, helping GDS to identify, execute and implement customer-centric digital solutions in an actionable and measurable way.
2. Primary Tasks
Ensures the implementation of global service standards – services, technology, delivery model, mode of operation, sourcing
Manage end-to-end delivery of connectivity requests from IBP in the APAC region and other specified global/regional projects. Main activities incl. but not limited to:
    • Confirm Objectives, Goals, Deliverables and Scope
    • Define scope of work, activities required and timelines
    • Identify stakeholders and required resources (incl. external parties)
    • Actively manage stakeholders, vendor steering, risks & impact, issues, budget, quality and timeliness
    • Initiate and Coordinate project meetings with respective required parties
    • Actively report on project performance, ensuring all required documentation is maintained and updated in a high-quality manner
    • Organize required testing, seeing to problem resolution where required
    • Identify and manage communication and change management needs and subsequent execution of the needed activities
    • Organize Project Closure meeting, documenting Lessons learnt and identifying any Follow-up activities (if needed)
  • Takes the needs of our global internal business partners, advise them and develop solutions that fits their demand. Various solutions are readily available for deployment. However, based on detailed analysis, the best one (functionality, performance and costs) must be identified. For situations which requires different approaches, think conceptually, come up with feasible solutions in alignment with the vendor. In case of escalations take appropriate steps
  • Lead and manage the vendor in order to provide right solution to the internal business partner. This also includes the critical check of cost estimations that are provided by the vendor
  • Monitor the deployment process by considering the agreed SLA's, OLA's and KPI's (for example, provision within agreed delivery times). This is done in close cooperation with the internal specialist units. Ensure documentation and quality assurance of our service fulfillment
  • Communicate extensively with the contractors being assigned to request fulfillment. Coordinate their activities regarding timely provisioning, contract and budget. Check and approve the contractors quoting. Know exactly the required effort (man-days) for provided solutions
  • Actively supports the design and planning of future services and the optimization of existing processes in collaboration with the Solution Architects based on various information

Other Tasks
  • Process requests received via Demand Management tool from respective Regional Business Partner Service team, ensure that minimum information requirement within the tool is fulfilled, assign requests to Request Fulfilment service architects and update internal tools (order management database, request tracking spreadsheet and other related tools)
  • Raise requests for quotation and provide confirmation to BASF vendors on acceptance of quote on behalf of third-party contractors.
  • Support an effective reporting approach to enable monitoring of the performance of the request(s) and provide information (where required) to relevant stakeholders. Maintain monthly status report in cooperation with other teams that accurately reflects the performance of the project(s) being rolled-out.

  • University Graduate, preferably majoring in Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering

Working Experience
  • 3 – 5 years working experience in business, IT operations, IT consulting or IT projects. Experience in supporting delivery of project and / or solution preferable.

Technical & Professional Knowledge
  • Experiencing Agile way of working or agile implementation approach
  • Strong Digital mindset to accelerate BASF Digitalization transformation journey
  • Familiarity with Digital technology - e.g.: RPA / automation, Power Platform, Machine leaning / artificial intelligence, etc
  • Good knowledge in the technology areas below:
    • Experienced in design of LAN and WAN network
    • Knowledge of IPT solutions and CISCO Call Manager environment
    • Knowledge of firewall and UC designs, configuration and technology
  • Good ability in project management and technology consulting
  • Establish good communication at all hierarchy levels in the company. Must be able to develop and establish cooperation and rapport with colleagues at all working levels and of different nationalities. Knowledge of any other Asian language is of advantage.
  • Very good spoken and written English proficiency
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high competence to influence the team to drive for results
  • CCNA / ITIL / Prince 2 / PMP qualifications is desirable.
