As a SIG CSB Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for centralized control in support of test and calibration of CSBs and ASIC/Cobra components. This includes prioritization of new production and repair of existing boards, engineering experiments, test/debug of system boards, and internal software/network support. Ensure the engineering workstations are maintained and organized. This includes, but not be limited to:
  • The physical testing/calibration, evaluation and potential repair during the new production process
  • Prioritization of new production product with contract manufacturing, versus global repair priority by site
  • Coordination with development engineering for any CSB related failure trends detected at Micron sites
  • ASIC component test and data tracking
  • Coordination with engineering test support teams for schedule of equipment and personnel
  • Continuous tracking of key metrics, including WIP, aging, cycle time, equipment utilization
  • Employee scheduling, hiring, training for support staff in running multishift operations
  • Test software release process, including qualification
  • Monitoring of all test equipment, including periodic maintenance, calibration requirements, supplier contacts
  • Monitor and debug assistance for software related issues
  • Develop new process techniques and methodologies for increasing usable life of PCB assemblies.
  • Participate in research of new equipment, repair techniques, processes and procedures, new industry standards, etc. to increase awareness of requirements to meet upcoming laminate, associated component technologies, and assemblies.
  • Develop new training methods then pass down this knowledge to area trainers to continuously improve process operations performed at all test and calibration steps.
  • Keep the lab areas clean and safe as defined by the MSIG 6S policy

Additional roles and responsibilities will be flexible and may also include:
  • Advice and input regarding physical repair and modification of MSIG production and development boards
  • Report contribution and generation
  • Support of engineering experimentation, field testing, and evaluations
  • Support of Development Engineering teams in the debug and test of MSIG prototype, development, and production boards
  • Support Engineering in the debug and test of MSIG Software packages
  • Qualification and deployment of MSIG Software packages at internal and contract manufacturing facilities
  • Support of the Network channels (tunnels) between SIG and our contract manufacturing teams

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
  • Provide on-site leadership and direction to the CM for CSB manufacturing, test, and calibration
  • Physical test, calibration, and directed SWR modification of MSIG production and development boards
  • Report contribution and generation
  • Support of field testing and evaluations
  • Support of Development Engineering teams in the debug and test of MSIG prototype, development, and production boards
  • Support Engineering in the debug and test of MSIG Software packages
  • Qualification and deployment of MSIG Software packages at production and global repair facilities (including internal as well as contract manufacturing)
  • Support of the Network channels (tunnels) between SIG and our contract manufacturing teams

Test and Calibration Support
  • Provide support for test and calibration between all SIG products regardless of the product or contract manufacturer selected for build. This includes directing all aspects of test readiness for SIG designed products from initial prototype phase until release for high volume manufacturing.
  • Drive version control between test procedure packages used by the SIG CSB teams, any contract manufacturer production test steps, and released to the field as applicable.
  • Assist other CSB team members and help provide the necessary resources to troubleshoot and repair complex issues discovered during the CSB NPI phase.
  • Help direct the transfer of best practices created during the CSB NPI phase with the development engineering team as part of the test documentation package. Your team will be the first point of contact for escalation of all test issues. Also, your team will provide cross training and help provide back-up to each contract manufacturer as needed.

Software Infrastructure Support
  • Provide support of VPN and networking infrastructure, server connectivity, Linux software support, and collaborative process improvements with contract manufacturing sites around the world. Provide a point-of-contact resource for centralized support of any escalated Linux issues, VPN issues, database issues, and equipment issues at the contract manufacturing sites as the first line of support.
  • Team support will be expected to solve most test issues and provide escalation of issues to the NPI SW engineering team when warranted. In this position you will assist the development of increasing skills thru work on a variety of projects of vital importance to Micron.

Training
  • Develop training plan for each assigned product.
  • Provide training to the local SIG CSB teams and contract manufacturing team members as needed.

Travel
  • Travel to contract manufacturing sites in the U.S. and overseas as needed to provide training and setup of the initial test processes as well as other aspects for continued support.
  • Complete detailed Travel Reports to document activities and action items that were discussed during the travel.

CM Support
  • Potential point of contact for the local SIG CSB team to escalate questions regarding repair, test, and network issues.
  • Provide detailed troubleshooting guidance.
  • Communicate frequently with the local SIG CSB support team, Development Engineering, and contract manufacturing sites to proactively address test and calibration issues.
  • Coordinate with the local SIG CSB team and contract manufacturing sites to release new and/or revised process and procedure changes.

Quality Control
  • Apply specific focus to all test documentation requiring effectivity and version control.
  • Work with the SIG development engineering and field service teams as needed to improve SIG equipment reliability thru improved repair and test processes and procedures.
  • Follow up on quality issues with SIG Quality and the field service team as needed.
  • Coordinate with the local SIG CSB support team to release test package transfers and process revisions for associated products and test equipment.

Safety
  • Follow all site safety processes and procedures.
  • Utilize JHA processes when needed.
  • Consistently perform job responsibilities with safety as a priority.

Requirements:
  • BSEET, BSME, BSEE or related field.
  • Minimum AAS plus equivalent experience/background
  • Must have a high level of self-motivation and be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong soft skills and ability to work with diverse cultures, nationalities and personality types.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Ability to work with a variety of internal and external team members, including all disciplines of development engineering and CMs.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electronics, mechanical aptitude and basic software.
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to document critical process assembly steps.
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel and Power Point required.
  • Must be proficient at interpreting system level schematics.
  • Must be proficient at interpreting assembly drawings.
  • Must be proficient with common hand tools.
  • Must be familiar with electrical controls systems and the use of common electrical wiring tools.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work through prototype builds from mechanical assembly drawings and system level schematics.
  • Ability to train others on new processes.
