We are currently looking for experienced Site EHS Leadto be part of our Consumer Healthcare Supply Chain business and this role will be based at Ulu Kelang office. You will be part of the site leadership team and reporting directly to the Site Director. In this role, you will be supporting the manufacturing business aligned with the Site, Supply Chain and Overall Business EHS ambition and direction. You will also be managing and supporting EHS programs at site to ensure full compliance with local EHS laws, regulations and GSK standards, and to effectively facilitate the management of EHS, sustainability, hazards and risks. You will be driving initiatives on Safety, Energy, Water Conservation, Waste Management, Employee Health and Environment risks and continuous improvement, as well as managing EHS Council with direction from the EHS Shared Service and Senior Management.
Other KeyResponsibilities:
Leadership and Planning
  • Sustain a good working relationship with local Regulators and Inspectors.
  • Responsible for the leadership, talent management and succession planning of EHS.
  • Champion an EHS culture across the KL Site through Living Safety that embraces and integrates EHS into all operations and activities.
  • Coordinate the implementation of EHS Risk Mitigation Programmes and Initiatives; e.g. Leading EHS, Living Safety, Professional Certification, Process Safety, Respirator-Free, Zero Access and Environmental Sustainability.
  • Work in a collaborative fashion with GSK EHS Shared Service and Corporate Centres of Excellence (CoEs) to ensure the delivery of GSK's business targets and ambition.
  • Develop site specific strategies for EHS programmes addressing hazards, risks and sustainable operational principles.
  • Challenge existing site practices to help drive continuous improvement in EHS culture.
  • Utilise excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, particularly in the areas of managing, guiding and influencing others, changing or modifying operating methods in pursuit of integrated GSK EHS goals.
  • Ensure items are escalated to site EHS Council and Risk Register as required.
  • Ensure a comprehensive approach is taken with environmental management and sustainability ambitions.

Alignment with GSK Programmes and Initiatives
  • Ensure that EHS objectives are in place and are aligned with existing GSK EHS Programmes and GSK Production System (GPS)
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Technical on the design, specification, construction and implementation of all capital projects to ensure proactive management of EHS issues.

EHS Organisational Structure and Staff Development
  • Ensure that the EHS performance at GMS KL site is regularly reviewed and summarised as required in reports for above site management.
  • Implement a robust EHS development process that ensures the continuous development of qualified and competent EHS professionals.
  • Develop a succession plan for EHS and Security site staff and participate in the talent review.
  • Effectively collaborate among EHS Leadership within the region to ensure good practice sharing, staff development and working across boundaries

Knowledge Management
  • Implement a culture of total disclosure regarding EHS regulatory compliance, audit results, and incidents to ensure that all of GSK benefits form the findings from these events.
  • Ensure that ENG/EHS Alerts are effectively communicated to all at GSK KL.
  • Share knowledge gained from previous site and other sites with GSK KL in order to further improve competency and system

EHS Risk Management
  • Ensure EHS risks are incorporated into site’s risk review process.
  • Ensure that EHS risks are coordinated through site's Risk Manager Promote the implementation of GSK approved EHS programmes.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Science / Environmental, Health & Safety or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in addressing or managing EHS issues or team in a pharmaceutical / FMCG manufacturing site.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable on Industrial hazards, local legislations & process of incident and illness reporting
  • Problem solving abilities suitable for handling complex issues associated with cross departmental boundaries.
  • Member of a recognized professional body, i.e. IOSH, IChemE
  • Strong Interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with all levels of staff.
