The Role Responsibilities
Strategy
  • The Bank's Cloud-First Strategy paves the way to modernisation and consolidating and enhancing IT infrastructure, automation, improving environment hygiene and pursue next-generation innovative solutions.
  • The Core Infrastructure Network Engineer:
    • Has substantial expertise in the design, solution, implementation and operational support of modern software-defined WAN, LAN and WLAN networks.
    • Is responsible for the identification and selection of appropriate network solutions to design and deploy in the environment based on business objectives and requirements.
    • Is skilled in developing, deploying and troubleshooting network deployments with deep knowledge of key networking features of large enterprise transport networks and cloud.
    • Further the Bank's mission and objectives through continuous developments, improvements and alignment of the core network infra.

Business
  • Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environments in which the group operates.
  • Gain a deep understanding of business objectives and priorities.
  • As a critical technology service for the bank, ensure the network services architecture and designs have high availability to remains stable and performs optimally.
  • Work closely with other teams such as Network Delivery, Network Operations, Voice, End User Services and various business stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Cyber Security teams to ensure security-first delivery.
  • Develop influential and trustworthy working relationships with other technology and business peers to achieve all objectives. This should be aimed at improving team efficiency in performing their work.
  • Provide consultancy and advisory services to business, system developers and technology stakeholders for any matters related to any assigned projects, collaborating with engineering, delivery, project and SRE teams.
  • Provide operational and monitoring excellence.
  • Escalation point for matters related to core network infrastructure.

Processes
  • Uphold the Bank's best practices surrounding automation, onboarding, governance processes.
  • Ensure the Bank's change processes are consistently followed.
  • Ensure Operational stability of business-critical environments
  • Ensure that Network Engineering complies with the Technology Services processes within the Architecture Framework. These include, Security Architecture & Capability Authority (SACA), Technology Services Technology Council (TSTC), Cloud Governance Framework.

  • Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment within Network Services Operations
  • Ensure Network Architecture Design adhere to Group Security & Audit policies within Network Services.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 8 to 10 years experience in network design and delivery of technology centric customer-focused services.
  • 2 or more years in modern network and cloud-based environments.
  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology or its equivalent.
  • Preferably possess a valid Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification or its equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge in the WAN, WAN Acceleration, LAN, WLAN, DNS and NGFW and segmentation domains.
  • Deep fundamental understanding and working knowledge of common protocols, transports and standards such as TCP/IP, MPLS, Internet, VxLAN, IPsec, QoS, BGP, OSPF, GRE and the likes.
  • Strong understanding of modern software-defined networks e.g. SD-WAN, NFV, SD-Branch, SASE from one or more product vendors e.g. Versa, Cisco SD-WAN, Silver Peak and the likes.
  • Good understanding of proxy and DHCP, DNS and IPAM (DDI) concepts and platforms such as Infoblox, Zscaler, etc.
  • Good cloud networking knowledge such as Direct Connect, Express Route and multi-cloud connectivity architectures.
  • Integration experience and knowledge between modern networks and cloud providers such as AWS, Azure and GCP would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge in SaaS, IaaS, PaaS and virtualization would be advantageous.
  • Coding skills such as Python would be advantageous
  • Experience in various monitoring, management and reporting tools e.g. SevOne.
  • Excellent technical leadership, impressive problem analysis and resolution abilities.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and demonstration of service improvements
  • Excellent communication skills - oral, written and presentation technical reporting and writing across various types of target audiences.
  • Strong sense of personal ownership and responsibility in accomplishing the organization's goal. Exudes confidence, able to cope under pressure and will roll-up his/her sleeves to drive a project to success in a challenging environment.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology, or its equivalent.
  • Cloud technology certification (AWS and/or Azure).
  • Network technology certification (e.g. Cisco CCNP or equivalent).
