Job Description

The BASF Shared Services Center Kuala Lumpur was established in 2005. Located in Kuala Lumpur, it has approximately 700 employees and provides functional services in the areas of Finance, Controlling, Information Services, Human Resources, Environment, Health & Safety, Procurement, and Import-Export Order Management to BASF companies and affiliates in 17 markets across Asia Pacific. BASF also has three other Shared Service Centers that cover Europe and the Americas, located in Berlin and Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Montevideo, Uruguay.
Objectives of the Position
This person will be responsible for transport operations for a country. The person will also take ownership of all transport management processes for BASF operations.
Main Tasks
  • Manage transport operation (inbound, outbound) for bulk and packaged with different modes of transportation
  • Evaluate, monitor and improve the performance of 3rd party service providers, handle non-conformance service issues; participate and support 3rd party service provider selection;
  • Optimize transportation processes based on market surveys and business feedback to meet customer and company requirements
  • Coordination and management of service provider for vehicle placement
  • Tracking delivery of products to customer (monitoring of in transit vehicles, shipments)
  • Ensure transportation safety
  • Evaluate service provider performance on monthly basis in line with BASF standards
  • Coordination and management of order management
  • Ensuring timely delivery of goods to customer
  • Coordination with EHS, insurance and service provider in a case of accidents
  • Ensuring utilization of dedicated vehicles
  • Insurance management (raising insurance claim and recovery) incl. management of recovery from service providers

Graduate, PG Diploma or CPIM in Supply Chain is preferred
Working Experience:
4 - 6 years’ experience in Supply Chain
Technical & Professional Knowledge:
  • Hands on experience in SAP (OTC/TM) processes would be added advantage
  • Experience in Chemical industry preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of transportation market working of 3PL service providers etc. required
  • Good understanding of the products/services of relevant business segments and functions at sub-regional level
